THIS
WEB SITE was originally developed as an information
resource for Tompkins County’s Healthy
Heart Worksite (HHW) program. The goals
of HHW are to encourage and support new wellness
programs at small (75-500 employees) worksites.
The HHW program focuses solely on heart health
through good nutrition and adequate physical activity.
The
Health Promotion Program at Tompkins County Health
Department is leading the HHW program under contract
with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
There are 21 HHW contractors statewide.
This
web site was launched in January 2001. Now, and
as the site continues to evolve, the goal is to
provide a resource for anyone interested
in Worksite Wellness issues. In keeping with the
HHW framework, this site is geared to worksites
with fewer than 500 employees, and those who are
new to the idea of promoting employee health through
cultural and environmental changes at the worksite.
The
best information about cultural change comes from
those who have tried and succeeded -- or failed
-- to make change stick. As such, your feedback,
questions and ideas are welcomed and encouraged.
