COVID19 2021-07-30 Update: Resuming Daily Data Table Updates, Aug 2

Beginning Monday, Aug. 2, the Tompkins County Health Department (TCHD) will resume daily COVID-19 data posting through the table on the department’s website and social media. The table reporting had shifted from daily to weekly earlier in July as active cases had remained low for multiple weeks. COVID-19 data continued to be updated daily on a linked spreadsheet available to the public.

Amie Hendrix, Deputy Tompkins County Administrator and head of the Emergency Operations Center, stated, “The table has been an important tool for the community since we started posting daily data early in the pandemic. This tool has helped to keep the public apprised of the disease prevalence and our progress on vaccinations. As we’re seeing this recent uptick in cases, we are going back to daily data reporting to continue to provide up-to-date information in a consistent and clear manner.” Hendrix continued, “What we know from the data is that vaccinations provide effective protection against severe disease and hospitalization – we all have a part to play in keeping one another healthy and safe by getting vaccinated. As our number of vaccinations has increased, severity of cases and hospitalizations have decreased.” For information of where to go to get vaccinated, please visit the TCHD website or call 2-1-1 for assistance.
