The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance awards grants to government entities and non-profits that work in providing assistance and support to people with disabilities. Grants are specifically aimed at funding projects which:
- enhance the economic security of low-income working families
- help public assistance recipients in achieving entry into the workforce
- assist individuals with priority needs other than work-readiness in accessing appropriate benefits and services
- enhance child well-being and reduce child poverty
Five $200,000 grants were previously made available for an HIV/AIDS employment initiative. Grant money could be used for skill development of those affected by HIV/AIDS or their health maintenance. The OTDA has also awarded funding to non-profit organizations for an Emergency Needs for the Homeless Program (ENHP).
