November 26, 2023 - Reckless Driving

On November 26, 2023 at 2:45 AM, the Dryden Police Department received a report of a larceny in progress at the Speedway located at 51 North Street in the Village of Dryden involving a subject wearing a ski mask.  The suspect stole ten packs of cigarettes and two lottery tickets before leaving in a white Jeep south on State Route 13.  Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies located the white Jeep minutes later and attempted to stop the Jeep near 1414 Dryden Road in the Town of Dryden.  The driver failed to pull over and drove at speeds in excess of 55MPH south on State Route 13 through the Town of Dryden, Lansing and into the City of Ithaca.  The driver drove the wrong way on a one way street for a short period of time. Deputies continued to follow the Jeep until it stopped on Chestnut Street in the City of Ithaca.  Deputies were able to take all three occupants into custody without further incident.  No injuries or property damage occurred during this incident.  The stolen property was recovered as well as a ski mask and pellet gun.  The pellet gun was not used or displayed during the commission of the crime.

The driver was identified as Briana N. Forest age 33 of Ithaca, NY. Forest was charged with reckless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and numerous vehicle and traffic violations.  Forest was released with an appearance ticket.

One of the other occupants, Allen Forest, age 43 of Ithaca, NY, was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree. Allen had multiple arrest warrants.  Dryden Police will be charging Allen with Petit Larceny.  Allen was turned over to the Jail for Centralized Arraignment Proceedings.
