The Tompkins County Department of Planning and Sustainability invites public input on the 2024-2027 Mobility Vision, a project seeking to address transportation needs and demands of Tompkins County residents, with a focus on removing barriers for low income and other underserved community members. Input is being sought through public sessions detailed below, an online survey and by contacting transportation planning staff directly. The draft Mobility Vision can be found online at this link, the survey is available online here.

Tompkins County’s Chief Transportation Officer, Frank Doldo, will host several public input sessions including a brief overview of the Mobility Vision and opportunities for direct community feedback. These events are open to all.

Anyone unable to attend an input session are invited to review the Plan document online and provide feedback directly to the Chief Transportation Officer by email (fdoldo@tompkins-co.org).
Tompkins County Chief Transportation Officer Frank Doldo stated, “The purpose of this project is to analyze existing transportation barriers in the community, specifically around the transportation needs and demands of Tompkins County residents. Previous plans have indicated that transit demand to and from employment, food sources, education, health care, and recreation, described in the Mobility Vision as social determinants of health, are not being met.”
Doldo continued, “The 2024-2027 Mobility Vision for examines solutions to address those transportation barriers across Tompkins County and will be a tool to assist Tompkins County in optimizing mobility management programs and services to better align resources to meet the needs of vulnerable populations. The transportation team developed an understanding of current mobility management programs and services in Tompkins County, and identified opportunities to address transportation barriers and coordinate operations and strategically align resources. The initiative extends the county’s mobility management efforts, targeting support for low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, and others who need assistance to reach medical appointments, job interviews, services, and educational opportunities.”
