Tompkins County Announces Search for Next Administrator

Tompkins County has announced the search for its next Administrator. The Administrator reports to the Tompkins County Legislature, acts as the Chief Executive Officer, and is responsible for the creation and execution of the County’s budget and overseeing County government operations. The Administrator leads the implementation of the County’s Strategic Operations Plan and the incorporation of the County’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Current Administrator Lisa Holmes announced her plans to retire at the end of this year.

The County Legislature is seeking candidates with 8-10+ years of administrative and management experience who understand complex organizations and local government. Qualified individuals who are consensus-builders, strategic thinkers, and good communicators should consider applying. The County Administrator is responsible for working with various stakeholder groups including employees, elected officials, community organizations, and the public.

Tompkins County has hired Goodwin Recruiting to assist with the search. The starting salary for the position is $180,000, rising to $189,010 after 9 months.
