LETSS About The Group

In August of 2007, the County collectively applied for grant funding for a County-wide implementation of TraCS. Tompkins County was granted funding for implementation of 40 Fujitsu Tablet PC’s (and all associated hardware) in County vehicles. With ITS acting as the lead agency, a successful collaboration in the TraCS effort led the involved agencies to formalize their desire to work toward a single shared database of records information, culminating in 2009 with the formation of the Law Enforcement Technology Shared Services (LETSS) group. LETSS is a unique inter-agency group created to jointly plan, provide, oversee and coordinate shared law enforcement technology services within Tompkins County. The LETSS group was formalized in 2009 through County Resolution R248-08, with a U&D Agreement signed by the following participating agencies as of 2016:

Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response

Tompkins County Information Technology Services

Tompkins County Sheriff

Tompkins County District Attorney

City of Ithaca Information Technology

City of Ithaca Police

Village of Cayuga Heights Police

Village of Dryden Police

Village of Groton Police

Village of Trumansburg Police

As of 2016, non-voting membership is as follows:

NY State Police, Troop C Zone 3

TC3 Public Safety

NYS Park Police, FLR

Cornell University Police

Through its many collaborative efforts, LETSS has shown itself to be a mutually beneficial tool for sharing law enforcement technology and services.
