On November 9th, 2024, at 11:04 AM, the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, assisted by the Village of Cayuga Heights Police Department and the New York State Police, responded to a business located in the 2300 block of N. Triphammer Road in the Village of Lansing.

It was learned that two suspects in a multi-county theft investigation were inside a business allegedly attempting further thefts.  Deputies arrived and observed the male suspect, Robert A. Snyder, age 25, of Lansing, NY, standing in front of the business. The female suspect, Victoria E. Rose, age 29, of Pennsylvania, was observed exiting the business and walking randomly around vehicles in the parking lot.

Snyder was taken into custody without issue.  Deputies then directed their attention to Rose who began moving between and ducking behind parked vehicles.  Rose then entered an unoccupied vehicle that did not belong to her.  When deputies approached the vehicle, Rose started it, put it in reverse, and accelerated quickly. In doing so, she struck a deputy who was knocked to the ground, but uninjured.  The vehicle then collided with another parked car before driving off at a high rate of speed.

Rose was quickly located in a parking lot further north on N. Triphammer Road.  When Deputies pulled up behind Rose, they observed that she had already parked the vehicle and was running away on foot.  A deputy caught up with Rose, and while taking Rose in custody, the deputy was struck by her multiple times in the head before being detained. The deputy received minor injuries.

It was learned that Rose had stolen the get-away vehicle utilizing keys she had allegedly stolen from inside the business.

Rose and Snyder are detained at the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office while the investigation continues, and charges are determined. At the conclusion, an additional release will be issued.
