On May 29, 2024 at 11:30 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 100 block of Troy Road, Town of Ithaca for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Deputies arrived a found that a vehicle had driven off the roadway and crashed. The driver had already removed themselves from the vehicle and was sitting alongside the roadway. During the course of their investigation, and other factors observed on scene indicated that the driver, Judith L. Sterling, age 60 of Brooktondale, NY may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Deputies then conducted a DWI investigation which resulted in Sterling's arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
Sterling was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving While Ability Impaired by combination of Drugs and Alcohol (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Failure to Keep Right (Traffic Infraction), and Failure to Provide Breath Sample (Traffic Infraction). Sterling was turned over to the Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
