On June 7, 2024, at 1:15 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies assigned to the Gun Involved Violence Elimination Task Force (GIVE) were patrolling in the Village of Lansing. While patrolling, they conducted a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Malibu on Sheraton Drive. The registered owner, Terri L. Meddaugh, age 60, of Lansing, was known by deputies to be in the company of a wanted person, Michael C. Gilmore, age 29, of Ithaca, and quickly determined that Gilmore was inside the vehicle. Gilmore was taken into custody on the warrants for his arrest. While doing so, deputies observed .380 ammunition and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
A subsequent vehicle search resulted in the discovery of an unlawfully possesses loaded Ruger LCP .380 semi-automatic pistol, a vial containing suspected methamphetamine, a crack pipe and more .380 ammunition underneath the seat that Gilmore had been sitting in.
Gilmore was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree - Loaded Firearm (Class C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) after it was discovered he was concealing three plastic vials of suspected heroin/fentanyl in his underwear. Gilmore was turned over to the Jail for Centralized Arraignment. He was held on $100,000 cash/$200,000 bond bail.
Meddaugh was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree - Loaded Firearm (Class C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree - Class A Misdemeanor (Methamphetamine). Meddaugh was turned over to the Jail for Centralized Arraignment. She was also held on $100,000 cash/$200,000 bond bail.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Village of Cayuga Heights Police Department.
