On February 18, 2023 at 1:28 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies and Investigators were alerted by Corrections Officers that a female, Sarah A. Murphy-Sears, age 34 of Ithaca, NY was caught bringing Prison Contraband/Restricted Items into the jail to give to an inmate during visitation.
Corrections Officers turned over the items, which appeared to be Marijuana, tobacco, matches, rolling papers and six Gabapentin pills all wrapped up inside of a red condom.
Murphy-Sears was arrested and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband (Class A Misdemeanor) and released on an appearance ticket ordering her to return to the Town of Lansing Court at a later date.
