Frank Kruppa, Tompkins County Public Health Director, stated, “The work of public health is always something to celebrate and support in our community, whether it is in the form of COVID-19 contact tracing, vaccine administration, restaurant inspections, wastewater treatment systems, rabies control, maternal child health and nutrition, tobacco control, water safety, or lead poisoning prevention.  Public Health Professionals are often working in the background to protect our community and it is important to have this week to celebrate them.”

“The pandemic and other events over the past year have tested us as a Department. I am proud of our public health workforce who has shown up every day, often 7 days a week, to serve and protect our community. They have exhibited compassion, integrity, and flexibility in the face of uncertainty, rapidly changing guidance, and complex situations,” Kruppa continued.
