along with supporters of the Black Diamond Trail and the Cayuga

Used Books on the Ithaca Commons
Are you familiar with Ithaca's loitering gnomes? What about
the best (aka warmest) way to get from Green to Seneca Sts.
across the Commons when it's fifteen below? Any hidden ways
from West Hill across the Inlet and Flood Control Channel?
This is an opportunity to share a "secret route"
with a few, select, others. We'll take a vote on whether the
Cascadilla Gorge route (or Cascadilla Park Road) qualifies
as a secret path.
March 22 Wed 5-7 pm @ Felicia's Atomic Lounge
Do you have a great story about who you met or what happened
to you riding the bus (years ago or yesterday)? Are you curious
if any TCAT routes would work in your daily life? Come get
some basic TCAT information, or hear an outlandish story about
using transit. TCAT had 3 million riders in 2005 ... how can
we help them hit 4 million in 2006?
Feb. 27 (Mon) 5-7 pm @ Juna's (upstairs) on the Ithaca
Commons
Following on the heels of Ithaca's carsharing summit and panel
discussion, find out what's afoot toward a cutting edge Ithaca
car sharing system. Carsharing can also be done informally
in a neighborhood ... perhaps a group for that, too, will
spring from this Transportation Tea.

What is car sharing, and how can it work for Ithaca?
This summit will explore one of the hottest topics in town--transportation.
The combination of local growth, the national energy
situation, and global climate change has moved transportation
to the forefront of people’s thinking. Thankfully there
is leadership in the Ithaca community enabling us to plan
a future of smart transportation alternatives.

Getting the kids and yourself where
you need to be can be a big issue. Share ideas with other
kids and parents for less car-intensive ways to get around.
Maybe even plan a walking school bus or classroom-against-classroom
walk/ bike to school contest!
It gets cold and snowy here in
Ithaca. Is it really possible to keep walking and biking
around? COnnecting with others who are trying (or already
know how!) to stay warm and safe in our wintry weather.
November and December are
big months for moving bulky items around. Come share
equipment ideas and strategies for bringing home Thanksgiving
dinner ingredients and holiday gifts.
"On the Move with Books!"
was a hit--hundreds of children joined the Curb Your Car Coalition
and other organizations to celebrate transportation and reading.
Everyone got to play in the "TCAT Bus," we
made pages for an "ABCs of Bicycling" book, and
we read together the book, "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive
the Bus!" More information at http://www.familyreading.org/coe.htm
On September 23, the Curb Your Car Coalition, transportation
and planning professionals, and other interested citizens
took a walking tour around Ithaca with Mayor Peterson to observe
some of car-free and car-lite sites in the City. The
Ithaca Journal covered
the event.
A talk about sustainable
transportation and the "War on Terror" by Dr.
Paul Simpson of the Centre Region (PA) Bike Coalition addressed
the impacts of President Bush’s “War on Terror”
on pedestrians, transit users, and bicyclists.
You can see photographs of the CYC in this year's
Ithaca Festival Parade here.
