Present: Sue, Lois, Yael, Fernando, David, Margot

Discussion on what to do for Ithaca Parade:

  • Bus is in yael’s garage.
  • We want a more unified, clear message, connected to theme of Catch the Wind.
    --Suggestions:
“let’s make that a clean wind”
“may the wind be at your back as you bike or walk.”
“ditch the car; catch the wind”
“catch the wind, the bus, the bike”
“catch a wind of fresh air”
“catch the win out of doors”
“catch onto the idea of alternatives to the car”
“walking is fun” [everyone in clown costumes]
A square of walkers: “walking isn’t square”
  • Banner w= walkers with t-shirts and pinwheels
w w pinwheels on hats, giving out bookmarks.
    w bikes w
    w roller w
    w blade w

--Bookmarks: include titles of books on subject. Rejected suggestion of using old bookmark because it uses last year’s theme.
--Use pinwheels.
--Battery run fan.
--signs with reasons not to drive: a list: the environment, health
--Have a limerick, like:
Get out of your car and
Feel the breeze [then list the reasons, eg, for your health, etc]
--Plant children along the way who want to get on the bus.

Earth Day, April 24th
Should we collaborate with BPAC?
--Old idea of Sunday’s farmers' market, use pedometers; people count their steps to X.
--And/or an info table
--Brochures on why walk.
--People pledge how many days they’ll be car-free in May. Make a visual.
