Emergency Response Director, Michael Stitley, accepted a Proclamation from Tompkins County Legislature Chair, Shawna Black, proclaiming April 10-16, 2022, as Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
As part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, the Department of Emergency Response held its 1st Annual Recognition Ceremony. Zack Guidi, Dispatch Supervisor (former Emergency Services Dispatcher), received the top honor for Dispatcher of the Year (2021), and Director's Awards were presented to Chris Saxon, Systems Manager, and Geoff Dunn, Community Preparedness Coordinator, for their work on the County's COVID-19 response.

Lauren Dickenson and Danielle Schwarz, Emergency Services Dispatchers, were recognized for assisting separate callers with delivering a newborn; Pat Harris, Emergency Services Dispatcher, with safely leading a hiker out of the Shindagin Hollow forest; and Zack Guidi with locating a stolen vehicle while off-duty (no photos available).
Bryce Rowles, from Air Methods, presented John Halaychik, Communications Center Manager, with a plaque in honor of our Emergency Services Dispatchers. Air Methods, LifeNet, and Guthrie Air are key partners in any emergency calls involving a helicopter response.
