November 16, 2024 - Motor Vehicle Accident

The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office has received many media requests regarding this incident.

On November 16th, 2024, at 4:31 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Mineah Road in the Town of Dryden for a reported personal injury accident. While en route to the scene, deputies were advised that the 911 caller reported a pickup truck crashed into their house, causing significant damage.

Arriving on scene, deputies observed a 2015 Ford F-350 that had crashed into the residence causing extensive damage to the kitchen area of the residence.  The residents were uninjured and able to exit the residence on their own. Dryden Fire Department arrived and assumed control of the scene to evaluate the residence while Dryden Ambulance evaluated and transported the vehicle operator to a regional trauma center. We do not currently have a report on the operator's condition.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Mount Pleasant Road at high speed and failed to negotiate the intersection with Mineah Road causing it to leave the roadway and strike the residence.

At this time there appears to be no criminal element to the accident and the operator will be issued Uniform Traffic Tickets for NYS VTL violations upon completion of the investigation. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police, Dryden Fire and Ambulance, the Town of Dryden Codes Department, and Certified Towing.
