On Saturday August 31, 2024, on Dryden Road in the Town of Dryden, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a vehicle & traffic stop on a black Chevrolet pick-up truck for a suspended registration. While speaking with the operator, Deputies observed an AR-15 style rifle on the back seat of the vehicle. Following a vehicle search, Deputies recovered an illegal AR-15 rifle, an illegal short barrel shotgun, a high-capacity magazine, and narcotics.
Emmitt C. Houston, age 27 of Ithaca NY, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. Houston was arraigned in the Central Arraignment Part Court and was released.
