On September 7, 2024 at 12:57 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies were running radar on Waterburg Road in the Town of Ulysses. While running radar, Deputies observed a dark colored Chevrolet pick-up traveling west bound and speeding. Deputies pulled out and once behind the vehicle and before conducting the traffic stop, they observed the vehicle cross the white fog line, leave the pavement and go into the gravel area alongside the roadway twice. Deputies then stopped the vehicle for Speed in Zone and Failure to Maintain Designated Lane.
During the roadside conversation, Deputies immediately observed signs of intoxication and impairment coming from the driver, Robert S. Guyer, age 62 of Watkins Glen, NY. Deputies conducted a DWI Investigation which resulted in Guyers arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
Guyer was charged with Driving While Intoxicated - Common Law (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Speed in State Zone (Traffic Infraction), Failure to Maintain Lane (Traffic Infraction), Refusal to Submit to Roadside Preliminary Breath Test (Traffic Infraction) and Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle (Traffic Infraction). Guyer was processed and turned over to the Jail to await Centralized Arraignment.
