Tompkins County DMV Office is Closed to Public

Please note that Executive Order 202.8 of NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo states the following to be in effect from March 20, 2020 until April 19, 2020:

• The extension of validity of any Driver’s License, Non-Driver Identification or registration expiring on or after March 1, 2020

• The extension of validity of any temporary registration document issued by a NYS Dealer

• The cancellation of any in-person DMV appointment at any office until further notice

• Deadline dates in court proceedings (i.e. statutes of limitations, motions, etc.) are hereby tolled.

• A 90-day stay on foreclosure

In accordance with the aforementioned Executive Order, the Tompkins County DMV office will be CLOSED to the public.

Customers are also reminded to visit www.dmv.ny.gov for forms and online processing options such as driver’s license renewals, vehicle registration renewals and duplicate items.

The Tompkins County Clerk’s Office was CLOSED to the public, effective Thursday, March 19. Customers will have several options to process transactions: using our E-recording partners to electronically record land transactions; e-filing court papers through NYSCEF, mailing documents to the office, or dropping off their documents to the County Clerk Drop Off container located at the security station in the Tompkins County Court House.

1. Passports: No acceptance and processing of US Passport Applications and photos for renewals until further notice

2. Notary Public Service: To make an appointment for Notary service, please call ahead to our office at (607) 274-5431 to schedule an appointment from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Government issued Photo identification is required.

3. Access to searching records: searches can be conducted for our records online on our website – just click on the “Online Records Search” tab.

4. All other filings: Mail your documents to our office with appropriate fees.
