Why am I reading this? All products that are funded by the Disability Employment Initiative are required to include this disclaimer. You must have encountered a product that was too small to contain the full language--and this web-based version was our answer. This product was produced under Round 8 of the Disability Employment Initiative, which was scheduled to run from 10/1/2017-9/30/2020. In New York State, the Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) was a project focused entirely on developing, improving, and supporting accessible career pathways for 14 to 24-year-olds with disabilities through systems change. This project included a heavy focus on the blending and braiding of existing supports and was piloted in 3 regions, one of which was Tompkins County.

What kinds of products and events has Round 8 of the Disability Employment Initiative supported? Tompkins Workforce New York used funding to kickstart their social media presence, with a focus on connecting with jobseekers under the age of 25:




They also launched a county-wide radio, bus, and print ad campaign advertising the wide variety of services offered to job seekers of all ages at Tompkins Workforce New York. Tompkins Workforce New York contributed to the creation of an Integrated Resource Team toolkit. Tompkins Workforce New York contributed to Hands-On Tompkins, a Manufacturing Day event, planned in collaboration with Tompkins Cortland Community College and Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES. They also helped sponsor a 2019 National Disability Employment Awareness Month Summit planned by Challenge Workforce Solution, contributing a panelist and mugs that included helpful links to support more inclusive hiring and career planning.
