Community Health Survey: Tompkins County Health Department seeks public input

We want to know what the public thinks about health in our community! The Tompkins County Health Department and Cayuga Medical Center are working with community partners to gather information from residents about the most important health-related concerns in our community. Residents can participate by responding to the survey at: http://bit.ly/tchdsurvey.

The survey is one of the first steps in the year-long community health planning process, including focus groups, data review, and community conversation. The information will inform two documents: the Community Health Assessment and the Community Health Improvement Plan. This initiative is part of the New York State Prevention Agenda, which is the blueprint for state and local action to improve the health of all New Yorkers.

“The survey and focus groups are an opportunity for residents throughout our county to share their opinions about the greatest health concerns in our community,” stated Frank Kruppa, Public Health Director. “This process will assess current capacity, resources, and services in Tompkins County. It will also help identify community health needs and current gaps, which will inform our Community Health Improvement Plan for the next few years.”

The more people who take the survey, the stronger the information will be to develop these plans. The survey is anonymous and takes about 10 minutes to complete. An online survey is available at http://bit.ly/tchdsurvey, as well as paper copies throughout the county. The online survey will be available on computers at all public libraries in Tompkins County. If you would like to have a paper copy of the survey or flyers to promote the survey, please contact the Health Department at 607-274-6600.
