Motor Vehicle Accident

On February 6th, 2019 at about 3:55 PM, the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office responded to 10 Graham Road West in the Village of Lansing for a two car motor vehicle crash. Subsequent to an investigation, deputies determined that a white Hyundai sedan was traveling west on Graham Road and struck a tan Honda sedan. The Hyundai then traveled off the roadway and crashed into a concrete barrier in front of Northeast Pediatrics office. The driver of the Hyundai was unconscious behind the wheel, and there was a two year old child in the rear seat. Medical staff at the Pediatrics office assisted with care for the child. The driver re-gained conciousness after assistance from medical staff and was identified as JOSHUA L. WURGLER, age 24 of Dryden, NY.

WURGLER was determined to be impaired by drugs and was placed under arrest. He was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs with Child in Vehicle (Felony), Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (Felony previous conviction), Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, and Failure to Keep Right. WURGLER is in police custody and has not yet been arraigned. The investigation is ongoing. Also involved in the investigation was the State Police, Bangs Ambulance, and the Lansing Fire Department.
