Vacancy on Hillview Road Landfill Citizens Advisory Committee

Monday, April 12, 2010
Residents of Tompkins County are invited to apply for an at-large vacancy on the Hillview Road Landfill Citizens Advisory Committee.

The landfill, located at the headwaters of the Cayuga Inlet in the Towns of Danby/Spencer, ceased operations in May 1992. The Committee was created by the Tompkins County Legislature in 1990, in part, to review post-closure environmental monitoring data and to provide recommendations on measures to mitigate the facility's impact on the neighborhood and regional water resources.

This five-member committee meets three to four times a year with Division of Solid Waste staff and the County's engineering consultants. It would be useful to have a background in science with an interest in hydrogeology, biochemistry, statistics, or other related field.

For additional information contact Cathy Covert, Clerk of the Legislature at 274-5434 or by e-mail at:
