Reminder: Town Hall Meeting on 2011 County Budget - Thursday, July 15

Wednesday, July 14, 2010
The second in a series of town hall meetings on next year's County budget will take place Thursday evening, July 15 at the Ithaca Town Hall.

The meeting, entitled "Tompkins County Budget, 2011: The Process, the Realities, the Constraints," is sponsored by Legislators Peter Stein, Will Burbank, Pam Maciesey, and Dooley Kiefer, four of the legislators who represent the Town of Ithaca on the County Legislature.

The town meeting will be held at the Ithaca Town Hall, 215 N. Tioga Street, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The session is free and open to the public, and the public is encouraged to attend.

"My goal for this Town Hall meeting is to let Town of Ithaca residents understand the financial challenges County Legislators face early in the budget cycle," says Legislator Stein. "I want to answer their questions, hear their concerns and learn their priorities. This will be a difficult year, and there are no easy answers. It"s important for legislators to talk with their constituents, and take their views into account as they make the hard choices that must be made."

Lansing legislator Pat Pryor a hosted similar town meeting on the 2011 County budget in her district late last month.

For more information on Thursday's town meeting, contact Legislator Stein at 266-7579 or Tompkins County Public Information at 274-5555.
