Are you interested in enhancing the lives of older adults and persons with disabilities living in long term care facilities? Do you possess excellent communication skills, assessment and problem solving abilities? The Tompkins County Office for the Aging has a rewarding volunteer experience for you.
The New York State Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is looking for dedicated volunteers to serve in Chemung, Schuyler, and Tompkins Counties. A certified long term care ombudsman visits older adults and persons with disabilities in skilled nursing homes and adult care facilities and acts as an advocate and resource for them.
This program is administered through the Tompkins County Office for the Aging, which is holding certification training on April 12, 13, 21 and 22.
