COVID19 2021-02-19 Vaccine Office Hours and Town Hall Recording

The Tompkins County Health Department will continue to host COVID-19 Vaccine Office Hours next week, with two offerings scheduled for Wednesday, February 24th, 2021.

• Wednesday, February 24th, 3pm: "Office Hour for Older Adults" with Dr. Deidre Blake, MD, Cayuga Health Systems Orthopedic Program
• Wednesday, February 24th, 5pm: "Office Hour in Spanish" with Dr. Maya Aponte, CMC, and Carolina Gilbert, RN, CMC, moderated by Patricia Fernandez de Castro Martinez, Latino Civic Association of Tompkins County. "Horario de Oficina en Español" con Dr. Maya Aponte, CMC, y Carolina Gilbert, RN, CMC, moderado por Patricia Fernandez de Castro Martinez, La Asociación Cívica Latina del Condado de Tompkins

Additional COVID-19 Vaccine Office Hours will be scheduled; updates will be added to the Tompkins County Health Department website, along with links to past recorded events.

“Vaccine efficacy and education is a big part of what the County has been focused on. These events are meant to reach out to different members of our community who may have concerns about the vaccine, to provide an opportunity to ask questions to local physicians live,” stated County Administrator Jason Molino.

“These events to date have been well attended. People are asking really good questions, and attendees who may be on the fence about getting the vaccine have an opportunity to ask their questions and raise concerns about the safety and efficacy of the vaccine,” said Frank Kruppa, Public Health Director.

On Wednesday (2/17/21), TCHD held a COVID-19 Community Town Hall; the recording can be found via the Tompkins County YouTube page. Updates included the status of disease, vaccine distribution, and the ongoing local COVID-19 response. The presenters emphasized the importance of continuing to use all public health prevention measures (mask wearing, hand washing, and distancing), even as more people are fully vaccinated.
