A bat, a woodchuck, and two foxes captured in Tompkins County were determined to be rabid by the New York State Rabies Laboratory in the month of May.

The bite occurred in front of the Schwartz Center on College Avenue in Ithaca, on Friday, May 18, 2018, at approximately 7:00 p.m. The biting dog is described as a small black and white dog similar in build to a Jack Russell terrier.

A fox located on Kendall Ave., in the Town of Ithaca, was determined to be rabid on May 15, 2018. An initial attack that occurred on Ithaca College campus was reported to the Health Department at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018.
