Sessions offered for young musicians playing violin, viola, cello, piano, or flute. Music as Play allows young musicians to improvise music in an environment where there is no such thing as a mistake. Drawing from many resources, we will explore musical games and styles of music. We will “orchestrate” silent movies. Dr. Sera Smolen has been teaching Suzuki students Creative Ability Development, world musics, composition, and alternative styles for over 20 years. She is the assistant director of the New Directions Cello Festival, a seasoned performer of classical and non-classical styles, a composer, a recording artist and author. Held at the music studio of Sera Smolen, 210 N. Corn Street, Ithaca.
