Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Joint Youth Commission offer fun, educational and active summer programs for youth currently in or entering middle school in fall 2012. These programs are offered to youth who live in the Town of Ithaca (not City), and Villages of Lansing and Cayuga Heights. In past summers we have focused on a variety of topics such as photography, Geocaching, volunteering, art, cooking and outdoor exploration. Programs run 3-4 days per week per topic and meet at a variety of community sites. Some programs have fees, but no one will be turned away because of inability to pay. JYC will also be offering summer employment opportunities for youth 14 and up, also for youth who live in the Town of Ithaca (not City), and Villages of Lansing and Cayuga Heights. Call soon to inquire about these job opportunities in our community. For more information and a registration form for summer programs or youth employment, contact Beth Bannister at 272-2292 x229 or bab47@cornell.edu or check our website at: http://ccetompkins.org/4h/rural-youth-services/joint-youth-commission
