Our research shows girls want outdoor experiences! The Girl Scout outdoor program incorporates traditional camp activities with our leadership experience outcomes. According to evaluations received from GSNYPENN campers and parents in 2011, the most significant changes in girls’ behaviors were an increase in developing a strong sense of self, and increase in promoting cooperation and team building, along with success in solving problems resourcefully. Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts can enjoy Troop Core Camping at Comstock Program Center, August 10 – 12. Staff will lead activities such as boating, swimming, campfires and more with time set aside for leader-led programming. Program runs from 7 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Sunday. $55 per person. Girls in Grades 3 to 11 (in September 2012) can enjoy a variety of resident camp programs at Amahami Outdoor Center near Deposit, NY. Swimming, boating, and horseback riding are just a few of the fun activities at Amahami. Six-day sessions run from July 8 through August 5. Girls 15 and 16 years old might consider becoming a Counselor-in-Training. CIT I is offered July 15-20. Fee is $550. CIT II is offered July 8-13. Fee is $575. Resident camp sessions are also available at Yaiewano Program Center, on Owasco Lake south of Auburn, for girls entering Grades 2 to 10 in the fall. Sessions run from July 8 to August 5. There are also resident camp sessions in the North Country at Camp Trefoil in Harrisville, NY. For complete information on registration and more, visit our website at www.gsnypenn.org. Girls do not have to be members of the organization to attend a camp program. Non-members pay an additional fee of $50, or girls can become members for $12. Financial assistance is available for Girl Scout members. Find our camp fan page at facebook.com/gsnypenncamps, and share your favorite camp memories!
