Create great art this summer at Ithaca Arts, located at 1458 Slaterville Road, Ithaca. Air conditioned for summer comfort. Kids and Teens work with real high quality artist materials and learn professional techniques while exploring world cultures through art! We proudly enter our fourth year offering quality art camp experiences. Ithaca Arts offers hands-on creative camp workshops in a small group setting (limited to 12 campers) with lots of personal attention and care. Each week is different! Sign up now to reserve your spot and help make this summer the most creative and awesome one ever! Many of our projects are based on arts and crafts from around the world, teaching kids about other cultures. And we take pride on offering kids of all ages and skill levels “real art”. We challenge kids’ creativity and inspire artistic self-confidence. Program InformationKIDS ART CAMP:Creative arts One-week sessions; 9:00 am-12:30 pm for ages 5 - 12 with flexible extended camp options available until 3 or 5:30pm. Free early drop off or late pick up! (at 8:45 am and at 5:45 pm for Extended Camp). No two weeks are alike! Each week make new exciting fun projects! June 25 – 29: Modern Recycled Designer Make useful and decorative items for your room based on environmentally conscious recycled materials and designs of modern designers. Projects include room decals and more! July 9 – 13: Mexican Fiesta: Pinatas & More Mexico is known for its tradition of whimsical art works. Every camp day will feel like a fiesta as we make piñatas, bottle cap art, yarn paintings, bark paintings and more. July 16 – 20: American Girl® Doll Clothing Make fabulous original clothes for your favorite dolls. Learn how to follow a pattern, sew and design a fashionable wardrobe! New Designs this summer! July 23 – 27: Art From Ancient Cultures Attention all lovers of Ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome (including Percy Jackson fans). We will look at the art and culture of ancient civilizations and create our own original works, including mummies, hieroglyphs, Greek vases, more. July 30 – August 3: Asian Creations Look at amazing artwork from China, Japan, and Korea. You’ll make an original fan, scroll, screen, kite, and banner. August 6 – 10: Paper and Book Making Learn papermaking and paper decorating (such as marbling and sponging) and use these original papers to make cool original books, and even learn real book binding techniques. New projects this summer! August 13 – 17: Mobiles and Sculpture Projects will include a funky animal, a human figure, and an abstract mixed media sculpture and mobile. We will use clay, paper mache and other surprise materials. August 20 – 24: Tiles and Mosaics Using paper, paint, and real plastic, ceramic, and glass tiles, we will make our own 2D and 3 D mosaics. August 27 – 31: Harry Potter Games & Crafts Calling all witches and wizards! Based on the beloved Harry Potter books and movies, make wands, brooms, and other magical creations, play a real game of Quidditch and other games! EXTENDED KIDS ART CAMP AFTERNOON PROGRAM! Choose from two options: 12:30 to 3pm or 12:30 to 5:30pm. Fun afternoon activities include many games (indoor and out), camp crafts and swimming at the Ellis Hollow pool! Ages: 5 to 12 Schedule: One-week sessions; 9:00 am-12:30 pm, 12:30 – 3:00 or 5:30 pm for Kids Extended Camp. June 25 – August 31.
Fees: $175 for one-week; afternoon fees vary depending on pickup time. Scholarships may be available, call for details. $75 deposit, 10% discount for 2nd and subsequents wks.
Program Location: TEEN ARTS CAMP:Creative arts One-week Teen Arts Camp sessions for ages 12 - 17 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Campers make fun, creative projects! Relaxed atmosphere, great for friends! Includes high quality art materials and all supplies! July 9 – 13: Real Life Drawing & Painting Experiment with different techniques, styles and materials using professional grade materials including acrylic paints and canvas on stretchers. July 16 – 20: Creative Collage Take inspiration from great artists who used collage in interesting ways: Picasso, Matisse, Bearden, and create your own unique artworks using collage techniques. July 23 – 27: Modern Functional Design Create your own useful, cool fashion and household items with your own 21st century signature style, based on the innovators of 20th century Modern Design. July 30 – August 3: Textiles and the Fashion Revolution Make hand-painted textiles and repurpose vintage clothing and fabrics into unique, funky fashions! (All materials are included.) Ages: 12 to 17 Schedule: July 9 – August 3, weekly programs; 1 – 4 pm
