All programs are held at the CSMA, located at 330 E. Martin Luther King Jr./ State Street, Ithaca. Program Information

Arts All Around You

Art

Eight one-week multi-arts sessions, July 9 – August 31. Weekdays, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. with optional aftercare from 3:00 – 5:15 p.m. included in the cost. AAAY provides rich and varied arts exposure and time for recreation, free play and outings to places such as Stewart Park, the Hangar Theatre, the Johnson Museum of Art, and the Museum of the Earth. Classes and special activities in visual arts, dance, music, and theatre are based on a different theme each week, with informal presentations for parents on Friday afternoons. Maximum enrollment is 24 children per week. Weekly themes, such as Castles & Dragons, Creature Feature and Arts Around the World, others TBA.

Ages: 6 to 9

Schedule: 7/9 – 13; 7/16 – 20; 7/23 – 27; 7/30 – 8/3; 8/6 – 10; 8/13-17; 8/20 – 24; & 8/27 – 31.

Star Search

Theater

Two 2-week intensive programs. Challenge your strengths and strengthen your weaknesses! The learning process is the main focus of Start Search. Every student sings, dances and acts while we put on an entire, original musical in 10 days! Taught by a team of three: script writer and musical director, Doreen Alsen, acting coach and stage director, Holly Adams, and dance coach and choreographer, Elizabeth Livesay. This summer’s productions will be: “CSI: Macbeth” (Aug 6 -17) and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the ER” (August 20-31).

Ages: 10 to 16

Schedule: August 6 - 31; 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Jazz Institute

Music

Now in Early Summer! A five-day intensive program open to instrumentalists who have a basic knowledge of their instrument (minimum of 1-2 years playing it). All levels of experience with improvisation are welcome. Ensembles will be formed according to the abilities of the students. The week includes two band rehearsals each day, special focus workshops in various aspects of jazz including ear-training and general improvisation skills, and demo/performances by guest artists. The emphasis is on building an understanding of jazz through practice. The week ends with a concert on Friday afternoon. Early registration helps us provide the best experience.
