Health Department Holds Immunization Clinic Drill to Prepare for Emergencies
November 18, 2011 (Ithaca, N.Y.) — The Tompkins County Health Department implemented an immunization clinic drill on November 15 to test its readiness to conduct a mass clinic in the event of a flu pandemic or other biological emergency that would require a timely and efficient response. The Ithaca Fire Department (IFD) firefighters participated by receiving their annual seasonal flu vaccine in the context of the drill. The IFD, other fire companies, and law enforcement are among the Health Department’s emergency preparedness partners who routinely collaborate on preparing and planning for a variety of possible emergencies.
The Incident Command System (ICS) was implemented and the event was observed and evaluated by the New York State Department of Health.
