National Influenza Immunization Week - Not to Late to Get a Flu Shot

November 30, 2011 (Ithaca, N.Y.) — National Influenza Immunization Week from December 4 through December 10 is a national observance highlighting the importance of flu vaccination beyond the fall season. It’s not too late to receive a flu shot if you haven’t received one already. Flu illness often occurs in the winter months of January, February and March, so protect yourself and your family from becoming ill.

In observance of National Influenza Immunization Week, the Tompkins County Health Department will hold two walk-in clinics at its location and will be offering FREE flu shots for adults who are uninsured or underinsured. The Department recently received free flu vaccine from the New York State Department of Health and is therefore able to conduct the clinics.

Walk-in clinics will be held:

Wednesday, December 7, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Friday, December 9 – 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Flu vaccinations for children six months of age to eighteen years of age are available by appointment only. Call (607) 274-6616. There is no charge for flu vaccinations for children.
