“Vaccinations: Why Me?” — Panel discussion
and speaker to address topic
September 23, 2008 – Jan Nichols will be the featured
speaker in a discussion of vaccinations and vaccine preventable
disease. Ms. Nichols, a polio survivor will share her personal
story and discuss how polio has shaped her personal and professional
life.
The session will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2008
from 6:00 – 8:15 pm at the Tompkins County Public Library
in the Borg Warner room. The panel discussion is sponsored by
the Ithaca Rotary Club and presented by the Tompkins County
Health Department.
The panel will also include Jamie Loehr, MD, Cayuga Family
Medicine, William Klepack, MD, Dryden Family Medicine and Medical
Director at the Tompkins County Health Department and Jeffrey
Snedeker, MD, Northeast Pediatrics, President - Tompkins County
Board of Health, and faculty member at University Hospital in
Syracuse where he teaches pediatric infectious disease.
The panel will provide an overview of vaccine preventable disease
globally, disease incidence trends locally over the last decade,
and alternatives to the childhood immunization schedule.
