Ithaca, NY (November 27, 2006) – The
Tompkins County Health Department will hold a flu clinic in
the storefront next to Kay Jewelers at Pyramid Mall on Friday,
December 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for anyone
19 years of age and older by appointment or walk-in. The cost
of the flu vaccination is $30. Medicare Part B participants
should bring their Medicare cards; TCHD accepts Medicare Part
B as full payment.
Those interested in receiving a flu shot may make an appointment
by going to the Department’s website: www.tompkins-co.org/flu
or by calling 274-6616 Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–12:00
p.m. and 1:00 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
Flu vaccine is the best way to reduce the chances of getting
the flu. And those who get vaccinated also protect their loved
ones and people they come in contact with on a daily basis at
work or at school. Most people recover completely from the flu
but they may be sick for a week or two and be unable to work,
attend school, or participate in social activities. The flu
can cause fever, sore throat, headache, chills, fatigue, cough,
and muscle aches.
