Tompkins County Health Department Has Flu Vaccine
Ithaca, NY (October 25, 2006)—Tompkins
County Health Department (TCHD) will hold flu clinics in five
locations in the County from October 31 through November 16.
Appointments are now being made for all 5 clinics. The Health
Department has received its supply of vaccine for all of the
scheduled clinics.
This is the second year that the Health Department scheduled
appointments for flu vaccinations at clinics. Participants are
pleased with the appointment system because they are guaranteed
a flu shot when they arrive at the clinic. And they know they
won’t have to wait in line and can plan their day around
the appointment.
The Health Department’s goal is to target those people
who would be most at risk for complications from the flu. These
groups include:
- people 50 years of age and older,
- pregnant women,
- healthcare workers, and
- anyone 19 years of age and older with a chronic disease
including heart and lung conditions, diabetes and those who
are immunocompromised for flu vaccination clinics.
Those interested in making an appointment for a flu shot may
go the website: www.tompkins-co.org/health
and make their appointment online anytime or call 274-6616 Monday
through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
and 3:30 p.m.
