The Wonder of Water

The permanently adopted theme for National drinking Water Week is “The Wonder of Water”. Throughout the day, local governments, citizen organizations, and non-profits will be providing water taste tests, demonstrations of specialized monitoring and inspection equipment, models of groundwater movement and surface water runoff, educational computer games for children, hands-on displays, and lots of water related information. For more detailed and updated information, please visit www.cayugalake.org and www.ithacamarket.com.

Cayuga Lake from the air
Get to know Cayuga Lake!

The Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom and Tiohero Tours will offer all-ages cruises throughout the day aboard the MV Haendel.  One-hour narrated cruises, focusing on the health and natural history of Cayuga Lake will depart at 11:00 and 12:30 p.m. from the Farmers’ Market dock.  A 2-hour “Floating Classroom-style” eco-cruise will depart at 2:30, with a focus on Hydrillla and other activities suitable for both youth and adults.

“Community Access” coupons, which are offered to ensure that Floating Classroom programs are affordable for everyone in our community, will be available dock side upon request, or in advance at GIAC, Southside Community Center and other locations.  The coupons will be applicable for any of the day’s cruises.  Those interested can contact Tiohero Tours in advance, at 607-697-0166, or info@tioherotours.com.  Additional information may be found at floatingclassroom.blogspot.com.
