The violations listed below relate directly to factors that could lead to food-borne illness or injury. These violations generally involve the food source and condition, food cooking and storage temperatures, sanitary practices, water and sewage, and the use of poisonous materials.

Potentially hazardous foods were not stored under refrigeration.  Half & half for customer service was observed at 52ºF.  The product was voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

A re-inspection was unsatisfactory. 

Manndible Café (Re-inspection), C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not stored under refrigeration.  Skim milk and half & half were observed at 50ºF for customer service.  The products were voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

Alpha Zeta Fraternity a Day on the Quad (Temporary Food Service), C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were at improper temperatures.  Cooked pork was observed at 117-120ºF.  The product was rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

A re-inspection was not conducted due to the short duration of the event.

Ameritalia, C-Ithaca
Enough refrigerated storage was not present at the time of the inspection.  Sliced tomatoes, sliced cheeses, cucumber sauce, cooked pasta, cooked sausage, raw chicken and deli meats were observed at 50-58ºF.  The products were voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

A re-inspection was satisfactory.

LACS Whale Watch Trip (Temporary Event), C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were at improper temperatures.  Cooked salt potatoes were observed at 112-120ºF.  The product was rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

A re-inspection was not conducted due to the one-day duration of the event.

Lansing Girls Varsity JV Softball Chicken BBQ (Temporary Event), T-Lansing
Potentially hazardous foods were at improper temperatures.  Cooked chicken and baked beans were observed at 118-130ºF.  Both products were rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to customer service.

A re-inspection was not conducted due to the short duration of the event.

Cornell Food Service Club Food Olympics (Temporary Event), C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous food was at improper temperatures.  Macaroni and cheese and pulled pork were observed at 110-120ºF.  Both products were rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

A re-inspection was not conducted due to the one-day duration of the event.

Cornell Dairy Bar, C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not stored under refrigeration. Milk was observed at 57ºF on a counter for customer service.  The product was voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

A re-inspection was satisfactory.

Rulloff’s, C-Ithaca
Accurate thermometers were not available or used to evaluate potentially hazardous foods.  The metal stem probe thermometer in the facility at the time of the inspection read twenty degrees lower than the Health Department calibrated thermometer.  The facility thermometer was calibrated during the inspection.

A re-inspection was not conducted prior to submission of this report.

Homewood Suites, V-Lansing
Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or below 45ºF during cold holding.  Milk was observed at 51-52ºF for customer service.  The products were voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or above 140ºF during hot holding.  Sausage patties and scrambled eggs were observed at 100-120ºF.  The products were rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

A re-inspection was satisfactory.

Dryden Queen Diner, V-Dryden
Potentially hazardous foods were not stored under refrigeration.  Cooked potatoes were observed at 120-125ºF.  The product was rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

Lansing High School, T-Lansing
Cooked or prepared foods were subjected to cross-contamination for raw foods.  Fresh shell eggs were observed stored over cookies, soda and tortillas.  The storage was re-arranged during the inspection.

Lansing Middle School, T-Lansing
Cooked or prepared foods were subject to cross-contamination from raw foods.  Fresh shell eggs were observed stored above lettuce for customer service.  The storage was re-arranged during the inspection.

Little Thai House, C-Ithaca
Food workers did not use proper utensils or gloves to eliminate bare hand contact with cooked or prepared foods.  A food worker was observed handling cucumber and tomato for customer service.  The products were voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or below 45ºF during cold holding.  Cut tomatoes were observed at 50-52ºF.  The product was voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

A re-inspection was not conducted prior to submission of this report.

Sri Lankan Curry in a Hurry Ithaca Farmers Market, C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not stored under refrigeration.  Curried potatoes and lentils with rice were observed on a counter at 68-72ºF.  The products were immediately iced to chill to 45ºF prior to return to service.

Accurate thermometers were not available to evaluate potentially hazardous foods.  No probe thermometer was on-site at the time of the inspection to monitor food temperatures.  The operator was advised to obtain an accurate metal stem probe thermometer.

Cactus Heads Ithaca Farmers Market, C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or below 45ºF.  Shredded cheese was observed at 52-57ºF.  The product was re-iced to chill to 45ºF or below prior to return to service.

Lou’s BBQ, C-Ithaca
Thermometers were inaccurate at the time of the inspection.  The metal stem probe thermometer on-site at the time of the inspection read 12ºF lower than the calibrated Health Department thermocouple.  The thermometer was calibrated during the inspection.
Food workers did not use proper barrier protection to eliminate bare hand contact with ready-to eat foods.  A food worker was observed handling buns for customer service.  The product was voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

A re-inspection was not conducted prior to submission of this report.

Potala Café, C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not stored under refrigeration.  Crab meat and vegetable sushi were observed on a table for customer service at 68ºF.  The product was placed on ice to rapidly chill to 45ºF or below prior to return to customer service.

Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or above 140ºF during hot holding.  Cooked chicken and rice were observed at 118-138ºF.  The products were rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

An accurate thermometer was not available at the time of the inspection to evaluate potentially hazardous foods.  No probe thermometer was on-site at the time of the inspection to monitor potentially hazardous foods.  The operator was directed to obtain an accurate metal stem probe thermometer.

Feel Good Foods, C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or above 140ºF during hot holding.  Cooked beans and cooked chicken were observed at 120-138ºF.  Both products were rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

Simply Red Bistro at LaTourelle, T-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or below 45ºF during cold holding.  Chicken salad was observed at 50ºF in a cooler.  The product was voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

Cooked or prepared foods were subjected to cross contamination from raw foods.  Sausage links were observed stored above chicken salad.  The chicken salad was voluntarily discarded during the inspection.

Sunset Grill, T-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or below 45ºF during cold holding.  Shredded cheese was observed at 50-51ºF during cold holding.  The product was placed in a cooler for rapid chilling to 45ºF or below prior to return to service.

Potentially hazardous food was not kept at or above 140ºF during hot holding.  Cooked sausage was observed at 107-112ºF.  The product was rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

A re-inspection was not conducted prior to submission of this report.

Orange Blossom Pancake House (Re-inspection-Violation of Board of Health Orders), C-Ithaca
Potentially hazardous foods were not stored under refrigeration.  Turkey sausage was observed on a shelf above the grill area at 89-94ºF.  The product was rapidly re-heated to 165ºF prior to return to service.

Potentially hazardous foods were not kept at or above 140ºF.  Cooked potatoes were observed on a grill in a double boiler at 132-140ºF.  Some portions of the product were above 140ºF.  The facility had a waiver in place, to use time as a monitoring tool, for the potatoes and was not following the agreed upon waiver requirements for maintaining a temperature log of final cooking temperatures, no timers were set or available to monitor time and the product was not labeled with a discard time for each batch of product.

Miyake Japanese Restaurant, C-Ithaca
Accurate thermometers were not available to evaluate potentially hazardous foods.  The probe thermometer in the facility at the time of the inspection measured 12 degrees lower than the Health Department calibrated thermocouple.  The thermometer was calibrated during the inspection.

A re-inspection was not conducted prior to submission of this report.

Park Grill Café & Catering, V-Lansing
Potentially hazardous foods were not cooled by an approved method.  Potato salad was observed in a deli case for customer service at 58ºF.  The product was rapidly cooled to 45ºF or below prior to return to service.

The Food Protection Program received and investigated four complaints related to issues and/or problems at permitted food service establishments.  The complaints included food preparation and service, temperature abuse, accumulated garbage, and possible food related illness.
