Susan Currie Resigned from the Tompkins County Legislature

Susan Currie, who represents District 3 in the City of Ithaca, has announced her resignation, effective March 31, 2025. A special election will be held to fill Currie’s seat for the remainder of the year. The Tompkins County Legislature will set the date for the special election at its April 1 meeting.

Janie E. Bibbie Named Tompkins County Poet Laureate

Last night the Tompkins County Legislature appointed Janie E. Bibbie as the County’s next Poet Laureate. A resident of Tompkins County for 50 years, Ms. Bibbie serves as trustee, deaconess and leader of the caregiver group of Calvary Baptist Church and is a member of Business Leaders of Colors, GIAC’s Senior Program, and the Tompkins County Quilters Guild.

Legislator Granison shared in the Legislature meeting on October 18 that he is stepping down due to intensive treatment for cancer. Joint Statements in Support of Transportation Agreement
