Tompkins County Unveils New and Improved TompkinsCountyNY.gov Website
Published on December 11, 2024
(December 11, 2024, Ithaca, NY) -- Tompkins County has launched a new and improved website at www.tompkinscountyny.gov. The new site follows nearly two years of design, development, and content improvement efforts from County Administration and staff in all County departments. The new site is designed to be more user-friendly with enhanced navigation and accessibility to County services and resources.
User feedback, best practices, and data analysis informed the design and development of the new site. Tompkins County staff analyzed responses from a 2023 survey of several hundred website users and analytics from over 400,000 unique site visitors and several million pageviews. The site is hosted on the OpenCities platform from Granicus. A new Service Finder tool is available on the website’s homepage, which categorizes resources from many departments under easy to navigate topic areas.
In an effort to improve the site experience and address any bugs or issues, Tompkins County invites users to complete a brief form with any identified issues: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LJDBVDF
Tompkins County is in the process of having website content translated in compliance with the Tompkins County Language Access Policy. Anyone using a primary language other than English who would like to request information or documents in your language should contact the County department responsible for that information. Tompkins County will post an announcement when translated content is available on the website.
To ensure a smooth transition, Tompkins County encourages local organizations with web pages that link to County resources to review the new County site and adjust their links accordingly, as some URLs have changed.
Tompkins County Administrator Lisa Holmes celebrated the new site, “The website is our primary public information tool. There are hundreds of pages with information kept up to date on thousands of topic areas. So far in 2024 we have had over 1.4 million pageviews across the existing site, showing how critical it is to maintain a high-quality resource for the public. Thank you to our staff who have, in an incredibly busy year, made these improvements and built a site focused on improving both content and the user experience."
