Tompkins County Deputy Administrators Bridgette Nugent and Norma Jayne presented accomplishments from the organization’s nearly 30 departments during the January 21 meeting of the Legislature. The presentation overviewed the County’s roles and responsibilities in the areas of: Administration; Health and Human Services; Public Safety; Facilities and Infrastructure; Housing and Economic Development; Budget, Capital, and Personnel; Government operations; and Planning, Energy, and Environmental Quality.
A few of the many highlights listed include: the interdepartmental coordination to address multiple components of the county’s sheltering system (both short- and long-term), the launch of a satellite Mental Health clinic at Tompkins County Whole Health’s Brown Rd. office, implementation of the County EMS program, the development and launch of a newly updated county website, along with numerous other upgrades, programs and events held, projects launched, numbers of clients served, and more.
The presentation is available on the County’s YouTube channel, with the document accessible on the County website.
Deputy County Administrator Bridgette Nugent stated, “Our dedicated employees continue to go above and beyond to serve our constituents, often in the face of challenges, scarce resources and significant transitions.” Deputy Administrator Norma Jayne added, “a lot of work has taken place over this past year,” taking the opportunity to thank former Administrator Lisa Holmes and welcome new County Administrator Korsah Akumfi.
Chair of the Tompkins County Legislature Dan Klein remarked, “It is awesome the amount of work and projects and initiatives listed in one place. When anyone asks, “What is it that the county does?”, now we can just hand them this packet.” Klein encouraged everyone to review the presentation to reflect on the progress made and the work still to be continued.
