Aging

The Tompkins County Office for the Aging provides essential services and resources for older adults and caregivers, helping them live independently with dignity. Established in 1975, we offer objective information, support, and guidance tailored to the needs of our community.

Assessment

This office was consolidated in 1970 to provide the highest possible service at the lowest possible cost to the residents of Tompkins County. Our office is dedicated to ensuring that all properties are assessed at a uniform percentage of market value.

Assigned Counsel

Assigned Counsel provides legal counsel to those who are financially eligible under County Law Article 18-B in criminal court and most family court matters. Criminal court matters include violations, misdemeanors, felonies, parole / probation violations and individuals facing police investigations. Family court matters include custody/visitation, neglect, violations of support, and some others.

Board of Elections

We are a bi-partisan team of Voting and Election Specialists, charged with the preservation of citizen confidence in the democratic process and enhancement of voter participation in elections.

County Administrator

County Administration, under leadership of the County Administrator, oversees and coordinates the operations of County government to successfully carry out the policies and procedures established by the County Legislature.

County Attorney

The County Attorney's Office is the sole legal advisor for Tompkins County and provides legal opinions and guidance to the Legislator, County Departments and staff.

County Clerk

The Tompkins County Clerk’s Office is located in the Tompkins County Courthouse at 320 N. Tioga St. and the Department of Motor Vehicles is conveniently located at 301 Third Street in the Hancock Plaza.
