County Clerk

The Tompkins County Clerk offers Veterans the opportunity to file a copy of their original DD214 with the office. The office will provide a Veteran certified copies of their discharge papers, free of charge, if/whenever needed.

Veterans who file their original DD214 with the County Clerk’s office also get to register for Return the FAVOR (Find & Assist Vets of Record). Through this program, registered merchants offer discounts to enrolled Tompkins County Veterans who patronize their business.

Qualified Veterans, those who were honorably discharged or received a general discharge under honorable circumstances, can have the word "Veteran" printed on the upper left hand of their NYS driver license, learner permit or non-driver photo ID card.
