The Tompkins County Communications & Public Information Office, a service of the Tompkins County Legislature and County Administration, aims to inform the public about county government issues, actions, services, and programs.
This office also plays a crucial role in incorporating public input into decision-making processes. It takes into account the public’s need for information, the importance of their input, and the information needed to help citizens understand County operations and services.
The County Communications Director is a member of the community emergency response team, tasked with coordinating public information during major disasters or emergencies.

Government Access Channel 15
The Tompkins County Communications & Public Information Office oversees the broadcast of the Tompkins County Legislature meetings on cable access. Meetings are broadcasted live every first and third Tuesday at 5:30pm.
Reruns of the most recent meeting can be viewed on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1pm and 6pm. The office also manages the government and community bulletin board that runs 24/7 on the channel outside of live and recorded meeting times.
