The Office for the Aging has two Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS) who can come out to your home and provide a no cost evaluation of your home and provide information and resources to age in place.
In Home Fall Safety Assessments are conducted at no cost by an Outreach Worker at the Office for the Aging. The assessment is a room-by-room checklist to identify tripping hazards in the home and offer suggestions to fix hazards that are identified. The Outreach Worker can also assist with identifying other small home repair needs and make the necessary referrals to the appropriate agency. If needed, the Outreach Worker can assist with filling out necessary paperwork or applications. For more information or to schedule either a CAP Evaluation or an In Home Fall Safety Assessment please contact our office at 607-274-5482.
The Office for the Aging also contracts with Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services to provide the Small Home Safety and Repair Program. This program has taken the place of the WRAP program and uses State and local funding to assist people with small home safety repairs. For more information on this program please contact our office at 607-274-5482 or visit the INHS Minor Repairs page.
