Peruville Road Crash

On October 4th, 2019 at 11:29 AM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a three car crash at the intersection of Peruville Road (State Route 34B) and Peru Road (State Route 38) in the Town of Groton.  There were further reports that one car had overturned and was on fire.

Upon arrival deputies determined that a Dodge flatbed truck was traveling west on Peruville Road and ran the red light at the Peruville Road and Peru Road intersection.  The Dodge flatbed struck a Jeep that was traveling through the intersection, causing the Jeep to overturn, catch on fire and strike a Hyundai sedan that was stopped at the traffic light.  Only minor injuries reported.

The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Groton Police Department, Groton Fire Department, Dryden Fire Department and Freeville Fire Department.  The accident is still under investigation with charges pending.
