**UPDATE** Motor Vehicle Crash Investigation

On April 1st, 2019 at approximately 9:10 PM, deputies responded to the area of State Route 13 and Etna Lane in the Town of Dryden for a report of a motor vehicle collision.

Several callers had reported to 911 that the collision involved a car and a pedestrian and State Route 13 was closed for a short period.  Subsequently, the pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital with minor head and neck injuries by Dryden Ambulance.  The operator of the vehicle did not sustain any physical injuries and the incident is still under investigation.

**UPDATE**  Following an investigation, it was determined that the pedestrian, Ulysses S. Harris, 26 of Ithaca, had just exited a bus and was making an attempt to cross State Route 13 where there is no crosswalk and failed to yield to oncoming traffic, thereby causing the collision with a motor vehicle.  Harris was transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries and has since been released.  Harris was also issued a citation for a violation of NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law 1152 (a), which states:

1152. Crossing  at  other  than  crosswalks.    (a) Every pedestrian crossing a roadway at any point other than within a marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection shall yield the right of way to all vehicles upon the roadway.

Deputies were assisted by the Dryden Fire Department and Dryden Ambulance and the Dryden Police Department.
