Larceny Arrest

On May 10th, 2019, at about 3:03 PM, deputies of the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office responded to the Target Department Store located at 40 Catherwood Road in the Village of Lansing regarding a larceny in progress whereas members of the Asset Protection Department were reporting a subject was exiting the store with merchandise that he had not paid for and that the subject was suspected of previous shoplifting incidents.  While deputies were en-route, the subject had fled the scene after a brief altercation with Target staff, but was located in close proximity to the scene within minutes.

The suspect, Vincent D. Smith, age 60 of Ithaca, was taken into custody without further incident and was identified by Target staff.  During this investigation, previous stolen property was recovered and Smith was also identified in two other cases and was subsequently charged with three counts of NYS Penal Law 155.25, Petit Larceny.  Smith was released with an Appearance Ticket directing him to appear in Lansing Town Court on June 27th,2019 at 01:00 PM.
