DWI Accident Arrest

On June 26th, 2018 at 6:32 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies, who were assisted by Cayuga Heights Police Officers, responded to the NYS Route 13 North off-ramp to East Shore Drive for a property damage accident.

Deputies on scene located the vehicle, an older model black Honda which had driven off the roadway.  Deputies further discovered that the driver, later identified as Anwar H. Omar, age 24 of Ithaca, NY had fled the scene and was later located near his residence.  Deputies conducted a DWI Investigation which lead to Omars arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.

Omar was charged with Moved From Lane Unsafely (violation), Driving While Intoxicated (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .08% or Greater (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .18% or Greater (Unclassified Misdemeanor).  Omar was processed and released on traffic tickets ordering his return to the Town of Ithaca Court at a later date.
